Where our data comes from
All financial statement data on Ledgeburg is sourced directly from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system, using the structured XBRL data that companies file with their annual and quarterly reports.
When you view an income statement, balance sheet, or cash flow statement on Ledgeburg, you are looking at figures the company itself reported to the SEC — retrieved from the primary source, not from a commercial data vendor.
As-filed, not standardized
Ledgeburg presents financial data as filed under U.S. GAAP. We do not reclassify, adjust, or standardize the figures companies report.
This is a deliberate choice, and it means our numbers can differ from those on platforms that use standardized data from commercial providers such as S&P Capital IQ.
Standardization remaps every company's reported line items into one common template — moving items between categories, netting certain gains and losses, and reclassifying revenue components — to make companies easier to compare against each other. That approach has real value, but it also means the figures no longer match what the company actually filed.
A concrete example: for companies with commodity derivative activity, standardized datasets often reclassify derivative gains and losses out of revenue, producing a revenue figure that differs from the one in the company's own 10-K. On Ledgeburg, revenue is whatever the company reported as revenue.
If you are comparing our figures against another site and they don't match, this is almost always the reason. Neither number is "wrong" — they answer different questions. Ours answers: what did the company report?
Coverage
Ledgeburg covers U.S.-listed stocks, ETFs, and funds that file with the SEC. Financial statements are available where the issuer reports the underlying data in XBRL format.
Some entity types — certain trusts, shell companies, and funds with non-standard reporting — genuinely do not file conventional financial statements, and no statement data will be shown for them.
Update frequency
Financial statement data is refreshed daily, with a full reconciliation pass weekly. Because our pipeline reads from EDGAR directly, new filings appear on Ledgeburg without a vendor delay in between.
Licensing
SEC filing data is public domain. Ledgeburg uses no licensed or proprietary third-party financial datasets, which means there are no upstream redistribution restrictions attached to the figures we display. The site's design, presentation, and derived features are the property of Ledgeburg.
Accuracy and limitations
We take care to ingest and present filing data faithfully, but errors and omissions are possible — both in our processing and, occasionally, in the source filings themselves. All data is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, for informational purposes only.
Nothing on Ledgeburg constitutes investment advice, a recommendation, or an offer to buy or sell any security. Always verify figures against the original filing on SEC EDGAR before making decisions that depend on them.
